I'm sorry to report that my bike trip is over. I was in the sag vehivle for two days. No improvement in my knee. So, I decided to hang it up for this trip. I guess I really blew out my knee. I am presently in Eugene, Oregon with David, Kim, Jake's and Nate's families. The good times still roll on. I already looked for and purchased a used bike to use in a week of so when my knee feels a little better. A day without pedaling is like a day without sunshine. After a couple of months on the bike, not riding just doesn't feel right.
Oh, well. At least I made it to West Galcier, not quite to Glacier National Park. That's about 3000 miles on the trail from home. Didn't get to ride Going to the Sun Road. Alas and alac. But my friends in the sag car drove me up. It was a beautiful ride. But it wasn''t steep like we thought it would be. It was long and going to the sun, but we rode so many hills that were so much steeper.
You would think that getting to Eugene by renting a car or buying a train ticket would be an easy task. But, oy-vey, it wasn't easy. There wasn't a rental vehicle available for one-way rental available for a hundred miles. The train was not easier. There is one train a day going west. Bikes have to be disassembled and packed. Not easy with a recumbent. So, i had Clacier Cyclery in Whitefish pack it for me. A mere 26 hours later, I was in Eugene.
Beardo is still pedaling for Team Fatman and Beardo. It will be up to him now to carry on the cyclebabble.

How cool is that!!! No "oy-vey" needed; instead, "yashar koah" !! 2990 miles further than my last bike trip :)

fatman is filled with so much chi that he is exuding waves of extreme happiness and joy everywhere he goes. he pins it on america. i pin it on the fatman!
HI Fatman,
I was sorry to read about the end of your trip, and even sadder of the fact that Beardo will have to do the rest of the trip a lone, but I hope that by now, your knee it is better, or at least well enough to be able to ride short distances again. I take my hat to you for making it as far as you did. As we say in Hebrew "Kol Hakavod" (or as Michael said "yashar koah").

Hi Mike,
Congrats for making 3K!!! This is unimaginable distance for me, let alone for biking. Iwona just came back from Poland, all happy to be back home. So am I. Now we are waiting for you to share our storis at the fire. Hope your knee is better by now.
Cheers...Jurek and Iwona.
